Just be still

So after reading a friends blog, I now have a need to blog. So when listening to or reading the story of "The Tortoise and the Hare" how many times do you want to be the hare. Even though you know the moral of the story, do you just want it to be over? Because when we're zipping in and out of traffic, or passing the person just because we don't like the way they drive, it seems we want to be the hare. Now I don't know if you have this kind of fellowship with God, but let me tell you I do. I ALWAYS want to be the hare. I know I have written about it before, but this is just obviously something I personally need lots of lessons about. The fast & easy way isn't always the best way. You can end up missing beautiful flowers, a picture worth keeping, or just someones friendly smile by rushing. Oh by the way, Do not take this as I want you to go slower than the speed limit! (Do that on your own time, I need to get where I'm going)

See look at that even when I'm taking a moment to share how we should slow down, I have to speed up in my thoughts. *Inhale/Exhale* Ahhhh.. much better, I had no other choice but to be the tortoise this week. (which is very difficult for me) My daughter had failed her hearing test, which since birth we've been trying to get her re-tested. Through a series of not thorough doctors and frustration, we had finally got the appointment. Now throughout the whole experience Psalm 46:10 came to mind. Which says

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Well if that isn't a verse to calm the commotion I don't know what is. My daughter passed her appointment today. I think Christ puts you in situations to praise Him. Yet sometimes we just wanna say Thanks God and get on with our day. When did praising God, become such a lackadaisical activity. For my life there has been nothing that God hasn't gone through first, there are many ups and downs. But when I let God show me the way, its a much relaxing ride. I have a song that you can look up, one that was in my mind all day today! Its called : What do I know of Holy by:Addison Road Many Blessings on your weekend my friend! Slow down and enjoy your Memorial weekend!

A your Adorable

Ya know it blows me away when God just gives you light to something so significant in our lives, yet we never paid much attention. I was thinking today that I wanted to post but I really didn't have much to say, which is why I hadn't posted. As crazy as I can be I do like to have some purpose to blogging. I know when we are younger we want to be old, and yet when we are old we yearn to young again. In the midst of it all though we don't see the time passing so quickly. We don't realize that those moments are fleeting and we need to hang on and hold tight to what we have. To pray for contentment and enjoy the moments that dwindle away. Today has been a quiet, peaceful, and lovely day. I got to snuggle on the couch with my two favorite sweeties reliving my childhood through tales of Winnie the pooh. It was rather bittersweet, because although quite wonderful it just made me think of when I used to watch these same shows and now I'm an adult with children of my own. But to continue on... it was later when I stumbled upon what God wanted me to see today.

Its beauty, How utterly beautiful my children are and yet I know in years to come it will become an insecurity. Now I know all about it because I went through it myself. I would spend hours in cosmogirl or seventeen looking at what I thought was beautiful.- Thank you photoshop for making me so insecure. I was listening to klove the other day and this lady was talking how she used make up like an idol, she felt completely naked without it. Now this is in no way a down play on makeup. Because on occasion I wear it myself, I just hope you don't think your not beautiful without it. Because God made you beautiful, and don't worry about comparing yourself to other girls because God made you precious and lovely in your own way. In summer camp we had "secret santas or secret buddies" whatever you call them, One year I got a plaque that had this scripture on it. "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight." 1 Peter 3:3-4. I still have it to this day.
I don't know what God is telling you today, but be true to yourself. Know that your beautiful regardless of what the world says. Trust that God knows what beauty really is and rest in that knowledge. In the end its really inner beauty that shows to all who are willing to see it. :) God loves you just the way you are.
Blessings on your weekend to come! S.

Garbage

There are so many movie lines that catch our fancy. Ones that frequent our mind and cause us to blurt them out, especially at the most awkward moments. It makes me laugh how much garbage we put into our brains. Thinking that it won't change us, or that its not really making a difference. When I was younger there was a tv show called Mcgee and Me. It was a story with a teenage boy and a cartoon character he drew, that happens to come to life. The show gives valuable life lessons, and also takes us back to where our focus should be which is Christ. In this one episode the son wanted to go see this movie, but of course his parents said "No". He snuck out and went anyway- silly teenager, seeing the movie even though it was violent and had profanity. Nowadays we push aside our morals for television. We give television the power in saying what we should and shouldn't watch. Seems like there are no good shows out there anymore, there are all these shows that try to incorporate what the world calls acceptable. Its disappointing to me what television has become, and what we allow into our homes. The end of that show has his parents telling him that when we watch garbage it comes into our mind, and that's what we allow to come out of us is garbage. So Garbage in, Garbage out. So friends let Truth in, and have Truth come out. Be a light for those in these times of darkness. God Bless S.

Experiencing True Beauty

As we approach mothers day, I can't help but post about mothers. Now I have been blessed with many. Mostly because God is awesome and he knows what I need. Either that or He knows I need a lot of direction.- You may take your pick. My mom is so very wonderful. When I was a child she wrote to me in a journal, and like most moms life caught up with her so she had to stop writing. Which is sad because her stories always make me smile, poor Alissa didn't even get a journal.-Its okay Alissa mom really does love you. My mom always knew when I needed to laugh, or cry or just needed to be held. She has molded me into the woman I am today. When I got married I moved South, now you may not know this about be but I was born and raised in the North. I am a true Mainer, and proud of it.- This girl loves her Lobstah. But instead of being sad all the time that I was gone, my mom encouraged me to embrace my new life. How hard that must have been, I know when my babies grow up it will be hard to say " Yes, go live miles away from me, Live your own life. I didn't just spend my life raising you!" But when its time for my babies to be adults. God will give me the strength to encourage them, just as my mom encouraged me. Because of my mom's love and encouragment I have made a life here for my family. Now before I pay tribute to two other beautiful women in my life, a little taste of one of my moms journal entries to me. Dear Sarah, We had visitors over Christmas and your cousin Charis was so good, I thought your dad would want to trade, but I prefer spunk myself.-LT :) This makes me smile, because my mom prefers my spunkyness.-Sorry Charis :D Now we all watch fairy tales, just admit it we know you do. I always dreaded marriage just for Mother in laws, they make them seem so terrible. Mine happened to be a gift from heaven itself, My mother in law is the spitting image of what I want to be when Samuel gets married. Not only did she give me her son, but she opened her heart to me. So even at first when I thought I only had room for 1 mom, God gave me a growing heart for another. In so many ways I married into a family that had always been there in my heart, Just missing until I was wed. I really enjoy all the talks and moments we share and the projects we get to do together. She is so wonderful to my children , and I truly am blessed to have her . Lastly but certainly not least is my NC Mama! Moving away from your family can be hard. But God saw that I needed a home away from home, and He made it happen here. I truly will miss her when I have to go. She is always full of the guidence I need, the scripture I need to read, and fun as can be. She has made all the holidays bearable, because there surrounded by family like it should be. So to all my mama's out there, Thank you. I hope one day I will be a role model to others as you all are to me. Many Blessings on your Mother's Day. S.

I like to eat, eat , eat. :)

This was what I made for dinner last night.(See link Below!) I feel like a lot of the time we just stick to what we know. I hate that, I really enjoy making new dishes. I like to enjoy different variety kinds of meals. Preferably delicious ones, but I'll take what I can get. Because I never really noticed my love of food, until I was married. Because after I was married I had to do the cooking. Which was fine, even though I never took the time to "practice"-sorry mom. I found out that I'm not a terrible cook, I like to think of myself as an alright cook, but nothing super fabulous. One of things that makes cooking difficult in my household, is the fact that I have picky eaters. Both my children are Lactose intolerant: So no dairy. Well since I'm still nursing Natalie, that means no dairy for me. Which sometimes is a MAJOR bummer. But I absolutely love nursing and will make all sacrifices necessary for my kids. -Yeah I know I'm awesome. (laughs at herself) Anyways someday I'll make sure my kids realize how awesome I am, They'll be teenagers yelling at me telling me I never give them anything or let them do what they want . Then I'll smile and say... I went years without dairy for you. :D Probably it won't go this way but I'm hoping my life will re enact sitcoms! All those shows are so fluffy and bright. Your like "What?!, I'll have kids, Growing pains made it look easy!!" Well , back to my recipe: It was delicious. Really yummy, Samuel even ate the chicken, which is fantastic!! I give this recipe 8 stars outta 10. Simple: CHECK Yummy: CHECK and even Healthy: CHECK Major wins all around! :) This happiness today has been brought to you by Jesus and his creation! Hold your heads up kids, by being super grateful you don't have a nutty mama like myself! Toodleoooooo S. http://www.free-ww-recipes.com/chicken-linguine.html

The things people never say

There are moments in my life that I wish I had spoken up but didn't have the courage. There are also moments in life when I wish I'd kept my mouth silent but roared like a lion. It seems more often than not I have so many things I want to say but nothing clear or adequate comes out. But this being on my heart, I  decided to share with you, Marriage is hard work. I am sharing with you because no one really gives you the honesty you deserve when embarking on such endeavors. No, instead its full of remarks such as, That's so wonderful, We're so happy for you, Congratulations, and many other great things. Now I am not saying marriage isn't wonderful or great, or something to congratulate in any manor. Because it is , it truly is, I am just clearly stating that marriage is a lot of hard work. Anyone who is married and doesn't think its hard work, well the word silly comes to mind. See the thing is Christ intended marriage to be a beautiful thing, which please don't read this and think my marriage isn't beautiful. Because I am so grateful to my husband for all that he does for me and my children. I know that Christ has very good things in store for us just as he promises.
11" For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."Jeremiah 29:11

See, clear as clear can be the Lord gives us direction. See I know for me 1st in my personal walk with Christ and 2nd in my marriage walk with Christ, I tend to get in the way. Christ will have my life set up completely clear, no stop signs, no pot holes, straight and narrow. But then I decide I need to drive so then we ram into a tree, or run over a raccoon(poor creature) or drive in the ditch for a while. Then when I begin to get carsick I let Christ drive and we get back on track- no surprise there. The same is in my marriage I decide its my way or the highway, or my husbands way or the highway and there we go again, a little off road, a little swim in the pond and a lot of wrong turns. But when we finally let go and let God. We get back to the destination he has set for us.
"A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12
So enjoy all that Christ has for you and your marriages, read his word together and hold tight to his promises. He never fails.
God Bless S.

Sometimes He comes in the clouds

There are various times in life when it feels like the world has overtaken you. Well I'm here to tell you that simple is not true.

When there are times of struggle, times of disappointment , times of just sadness, Jesus is there. He is always with you, even when you feel so far from him.

When I was a teenager I was a bit of a drama queen. Okay that is a major understatement, I was a rather obnoxious, very dramatic ,Queen of drama. When your a teenager everything seems like the world will end if you don't get to do (this certain thing). But when things wouldn't work out or I just needed to refocus I would go back to Christ. I have grown up a lot since those days, and if I didn't get enough of it those days I now see it in my children. They aren't even teenagers yet- I know send prayers. I find it complete and total mercy & grace when our parents don't kill us. Much like that of our Savior, giving us so much more than we deserve. What I find completely sweet is when we are struggling and have no where to go, He gave us an entire book of knowledge and advice. So very well written that even in today's days of technology it still remains the same. It gives you a good look into our Creator and how much He truly loves us. So if you haven't gotten a chance today , go read some of His word. Quiet your heart and open your mind to all He has in store for you.

So my advice to you : When the world brings on all its got, stand firm in Christ. "What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?" Romans 8:31

Blessings on your weekend to come!

Toilet humor: An aquired taste!

You would think after reading the title I wouldn't have put two adorable children as the photo to this entry, but when have I ever been predictable. These beautiful children are the reason I am blogging today.  I really adore children, they make you realize you know absolutely nothing. Today we ventured to Pollocksville to visit "The Godmother". It was lovely we were having a great time just chilling, when I hear from the other room "OH SAMUEL". So I put Natalie down from nursing and ventured forth to see that Samuel had climbed into Lizzy's toilet. So pretty much all you can see was his head. :) Now you will find this out about me but I am not a worry kind of mom. I pretty much feel like the children are going to fall on things that will hurt them, eat things they shouldn't and mostly get into things that are gross and make you say "bluah". But that is one of the joys of parenthood. So instead of freaking out I just smile and continue on with my day. So Samuel got to have a nice shower, a new outfit, and we went on with our day.
Later on I went to nurse Natalie and her pants seemed wet, so I pulled them out and stupidly stuck my hand right into poop. Because my sweet daughter had pooped out of her diaper and onto her outfit. So after about 15 wipes later she was all cleaned up and onto outfit number 2. I would just like to point out during this event Lizzy laughed the entire time. Sidenote: Elizabeth I can't wait till you have children. For I will be the one laughing!!
So it came to be about 3ish I decided to drive the kids home. Now that were home I went to change Natalie and she again had pooped out of her diaper and onto her outfit. (Yes I know time to move up to size 2 diapers)So while I was changing Natalie I couldn't see Sam. So after she was all cleaned up I went scouting for Sam. He was in my toilet playing with toys. Now some will read and be like what a terrible mom not shutting the doors, or not getting toilet locks. I have purchased toilet locks and my 18 month old can still get into the toilet. I know its not really great that he has a liking to playing in the toilet. But all photo evidence will reveal when he's older what a weirdo he was. (Poor Samuel's future wife) Well after all that great toilet humor, I think its time to prepare some supper. So Hope you enjoyed this eventful day. I know I sure did!

Starting from the Top

Well you probably are wondering about who I am and where I come from. :) It all begin over 24 years ago when my parents decided to embark again on parenthood. (silly parents) Let me just state my blogging will not be correct punctuation and may consist of many irritating errors. But since this is my blog, I would be very obliged if you kept your comments to yourself. See this is my only way of letting go of the burdens of life and having an out, if you hate reading English errors. This is not the blog for you. Now that we have covered all basics such as: I'm alive and I can royally suck at English we shall begin.

I truly think that childhood is the bomb diggity, Sure you get a few scrapes and have to obey your parents. Well rephrase you should obey your parents. But for the most part its full of ice cream and being lazy and just enjoying life, at least my childhood was. Now that I'm an adult I find myself wishing to be a kid every single day. It's not like I don't act like a kid for everyone wants to be Peter Pan but at the end of the day adults have to turn off the nightlight, and get back to the real world. Which due to lack of brains is quite dull and boring.

I have 2 children, two beautiful children who take up most of my time. Which is another reason I needed a place to myself. Not that they won't be invading my blog because lets be honest. Stories about children are often quite hilarious. So that probably will be many of my blog posts , but its really a place where I get to relax, recap and just take a load off. For that's what we all need really right, a nice happy place. Well this is mine, so please don't rain on my parade. Well things that are happening in my life is a lot of out with the old in with the new. Which in my world is chaos, because I tend to pull everything out before putting anything away. (This drives my husband up the wall) But I made significant progress today but I'm sure I'm the only one that sees it as such.

Oh so for supper last night we had ham steak , steamed broccoli and roasted onion potatoes. The potatoes recipe was off the lipton onion soup mix box. YUMMY! That is something else you should know about me, I love food. I am always watching Diners, Drive ins and Dives or whatever else amazing the food network puts on! Probably the reason I don't get much done around the house but what can I say I'm in a food coma! Well I really could stay and go on for hours. But my youngest just spit up her entire lunch onto the bedspread and seems to be getting a little upset. So TTFN! Happy Reading,
S.
